Ezoic has always been a subject of much debate. Numerous reports on Reddit and across the web have surfaced, discussing the complexities of Ezoic’s setup and how it allegedly slows down websites.
When I decided to give Ezoic a shot, I braced myself for a daunting journey into the world of intricate integrations and disappointing results. To my surprise, my experience turned out to be quite the opposite of what I had expected.
This article aims to share my journey with Ezoic, shedding light on its user-friendly integration process, revenue growth, and suite of essential tools.
I have to disclose that Ezoic does not pay me, nor am I a member of their affiliate program.
Signing Up and Website Integration
Before embracing Ezoic, I was a long-time user of Google AdSense. However, I found myself increasingly dissatisfied with the revenue it generated. The prospect of integrating my website with Ezoic initially seemed intimidating, given the conflicting reports I had read online. Still, I decided to give it a try, keeping my expectations in check.
The sign-up and integration process turned out to be surprisingly straightforward. Ezoic offers two integration methods: a WordPress plugin and cloud integration. As a WordPress user, I initially opted for the plugin, only to be met with a noticeable decrease in website speed. Frustrated, I decided to give cloud integration a shot by changing my site’s nameservers.
What is Ezoic’s Cloud Integration?
Cloud integration involves connecting your site via custom Ezoic name servers, which act as a proxy to deliver an optimized version of your site to users. This method promises improved speed, optimal performance, and an enhanced user experience.
Here’s a brief guide on completing the Cloud Integration:
- Log into your Ezoic account and click on ‘Integrate Your Site.’
- Select the Cloud Integration option.
- Find the custom Ezoic name servers generated for your site in the provided table.
- Update your site’s name servers to the Ezoic ones at your registrar or host.
- Allow up to 48 hours for the changes to take full effect, although it may happen faster.
After transitioning to Ezoic’s name servers, I noticed that my website’s speed was no longer adversely affected as it was with the plugin integration.
For those who prefer using the WordPress plugin, the process is equally straightforward. Simply go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Add New, search for “Ezoic,” install it, and follow the instructions to connect your site to Ezoic.
Google Ad Manager and Domain Approval
The next crucial step in the Ezoic journey is the review process, where Ezoic evaluates your site to ensure it meets its quality guidelines. Additionally, your website will be submitted for a Google Ad Manager account, which requires compliance with Google’s ad guidelines. Even if you already have an AdSense account, it doesn’t guarantee approval for Google Ad Manager. If your domain is rejected, Ezoic will provide you with the reasons and the opportunity to rectify any issues.
Google may disapprove your domain for various reasons, including:
- Ineligible for MCM (Multiple Customer Management): This usually occurs when there are outstanding policy issues in your Google Ads account. Ensure there are no disablements, suspensions, or policy violations on these accounts.
- Duplicate Account: Google merged all Google Ads accounts into one ‘Google Publisher Account.’ To avoid disapproval, use the email address associated with AdSense, close unused Google Ads accounts, and consolidate multiple AdSense accounts.
- Low-Value Content: Google looks for high-quality, well-organized sites. Ensure your site is easy to navigate, has clear categories, necessary pages (Privacy Policy, Contact Us, About Us), well-organized content, and high-quality, original posts.
In my case, my domain was initially disapproved due to a GDPR compliance issue, which I promptly resolved to gain approval.
Enable Ezoic Features
Once your site is successfully connected to Ezoic, you gain access to a range of features designed to enhance your website’s performance and revenue. Some of these features include:
- Ad Tester: Test different ad placements, sizes, colors, and types to maximize revenue and user experience.
- Ezoic LEAP: Speed up your site with optimizations like caching, compression, minification, lazy loading, and image optimization.
