Difference Between Posts And Pages WordPress.

For a seasoned blogger, distinguishing between a post and a page is an easy act; However, for a new blogger, the two terms might seem confusing and interchangeable.

I remember the first time I used WordPress. The whole Admin panel looked so alien and busy. What confused me the most was the difference between posts and pages. Though they look and operate similarly, the two have complete different purposes.

Posts vs Pages

Posts are articles (entries) that you add to your website regularly. Posts can be sorted into categories and are displayed on a blog page (Posts can have a dedicated page that showcases all your articles. This can be the homepage or blog page.) In addition, posts display the author, published date, and includes RSS feed.

On the other hand, pages are static and they display content that lives forever. An example would be an About Us page or a Contact Us page. Most bloggers will feature pages on the top menu for navigation. Pages can also house the homepage or blog posts.

Rule of thumb. If you’re writing an article or a story, use a post. And if you’re adding information about your website, use a page.
